2001 Crescent City Classic
23 7/8 x 32
French impressionist master Edgar Degas captures the Crescent City Classic 10Km Road Race from his Musson home porch on its Esplanade Avenue course. Local artist Tuna Seither revisits the scene through an impressionistic view from the modern day"Degas House", the midway point of the 6.2 mile race. Tuna captures the scene through a window in time as the race may have appeared had it been run in 1872, the year in which Edgar Degas developed his renowned style while living and painting on Esplanade Avenue. The limited edition serigraph captures an Esplanade Avenue morning beneath a canopy of oaks, light and shadows, a truly unique blend of New Orleans past and present.
Tuna is a widely hearalded sports artist known for his portraits of professional athletes as well as limited edition prints for the Super Bowl, Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo and 2000 Crescent City Clasic.
